My theme is the experience of compulsory attraction, a common experience for women and queer folk. Stemming from basing your value as a person on being in a typical romantic relationship pushed by societal norms. Leading individuals to force themselves into relationships even if their feelings are not authentic as they believe it’s what they’re supposed to do. The butterfly motif is in reference to the common expression “butterflies in your stomach” which describes an uncontrollable infatuation. I subvert this idea by having my character energy feed herself butterflies, forcing something that does not exist for her._
