You Will Know When You Get There

This artwork is named and inspired by a poem that sits deep in my heart: Allen Curnow’s You Will Know When You Get there. To me, this poem is a story, about someone unknowing of their identity, without any foresight of the future. The poem ends with this person entering the sea, uncertain, unfamiliar but very much alive. Depicting a tranquil scene, I tried to capture the lack of urgency to rush into the future, to forget about it’s anxieties, and to visualise it as a warm luminescence emerging from the sea. It taught me a valuable lesson, to live in the moment, because you will know, when you get there.
