I hope to capture the enduring spirit of Singapore through my artwork. In the painting, a modern-day girl gazes at an old Peranakan shophouse, a rickshaw puller, and a boy playing chapteh. Through her eyes, viewers are invited to step into the past and imagine what life was like, and how these layers of history continue to shape our present. I’ve also included the iconic batik motifs from Singapore Airlines as a tribute to its timeless elegance and national pride. The vibrant colours hint that even in the 1920s, life pulsed with colour and joy.
