About the Exhibition

Collected Chapters explores the quiet yet profound relationship between art and life.
Bringing together works from a single artist, the exhibition unfolds as a narrative shaped by time, memory, and personal evolution. Each artwork becomes a chapter—capturing moments of reflection, resilience, and growth. Seen together, these works reveal not only artistic development, but the lived experiences and emotional landscapes behind them.

This edition features Singaporean artist Christine Mak, whose distinctive practice bridges modern Chinese brush painting with contemporary Western techniques. Spanning Chinese ink works, mixed media compositions, collage pieces, and contemporary works, the exhibition traces decades of artistic exploration and personal storytelling.

A celebrated name in the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s, Christine Mak became known for her sold-out exhibitions and expressive visual language marked by fluidity, texture, and emotional depth. Collected Chapters marks her first major return to the spotlight in recent years, offering collectors and audiences a rare opportunity to encounter a significant body of her work brought together in one setting.

All exhibited artworks are available for acquisition both online and at the exhibition. Through each artwork collected, these stories extend beyond the gallery—transforming art into meaningful impact for the communities the exhibition supports.

About Christine Mak

Christine Mak is a Singaporean artist recognised for her distinctive fusion of modern Chinese brush painting with contemporary Western techniques.

Widely regarded as one of Singapore’s most celebrated artists in the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s, she became known for her sold-out solo exhibitions and emotionally resonant works spanning Chinese ink, mixed media, collage, and contemporary compositions.

Her accolades include the UOB Painting of the Year Award (1996), Philip Morris ASEAN Art Awards (1995), IBM Art Award (1988, 1989), and the Ministry of Communications and Information Art Competition Awards (1987, 1989, 1990). In 2008, she was also honoured with the Arts Supporter Award for her contributions to the arts community.

Her works are held in prominent collections including the Singapore Art Museum, UOB, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay, Singtel Art Collection, and various Singapore government agencies and corporations.

Through Collected Chapters, her works come together as a living archive—revealing both artistic evolution and the deeply personal narratives embedded within each piece.
