动 Moving

Moving, a photography exhibition by Yeo Whee Jim. This collection is a deeply personal journey through love, loss, and resilience. Each photograph tells a story, reflecting the beauty and complexity of life as seen through Whee Jim’s eyes.

This exhibition shows that the power of photography as a means of expression and connection. After experiencing profound personal loss, Whee Jim turned to his camera — his humble mobile phone — to capture moments that resonate with joy, sadness, and everything in between. Through this collection, he invites you to reflect on your own experiences and find beauty in the everyday.

This exhibition serves as a reminder that even in our darkest times, there is light to be found. It encourages us to embrace our stories and celebrate the connections we share with others.

About the Photographer — Mr Yeo Whee Jim

Whee Jim has been battling motor neurone disease since 2022. He has since lost his fine motor skills and needs help with his activities of daily living. When he was more able-bodied, he enjoyed taking photographs with his mobile phone. Who needs a fancy camera when you can capture the world with just a smartphone?

Whee Jim proves that mobile photography is like his favourite —quick, accessible, and surprisingly delightful! Each snapshot reflects his resilience and love for life, reminding us that even in challenging times, creativity can flourish.

He launched his first collection of poems title Itinerary at the Arts House on 28 June 2024, a 96-page book containing his reflections on legacy, mortality and leading a full life. He is honoured to celebrate the new year 2025, with the opportunity to present his first exhibition of photographs from his photobook “Moving: Yeo Whee Jim’s Photographs and Reflections” to benefit The Business Times Budding Artists Fund.
