大字报 – 2, which refers to Big Character Posters, were handwritten posters mounted on walls in public spaces, popular during the Cultural Revolution, it was a form of expression to achieve political agendas. Inspired by the visual qualities of urban living spaces, 大字报 – 2 reflects the repetitive housing designs that can result in a stifling atmosphere, while the confined spaces are reflected in the lawlessness of the architecture, creating an ambiguous imagery. The work serves as a commentary on the continual gentrification of housing estates, illustrating the diminishing presence of greenery, yielding itself to satisfy the greater needs of economic growth.
